The Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF) is a non-profit organization that aims to promote seamless collaboration among different communication systems.
UCIF was established in 2005 to address the issue of interoperability in unified communications.
Its members include leading technology companies, research institutions, and government agencies.
One of the key goals of UCIF is to develop open standards for unified communications, which would enable different systems to work together smoothly.
UCIF has developed several standards and guidelines for unified communications, including the UCIF Interoperability Standard.

Other members include Acme Packet, Huawei, Aspect, AudioCodes, Broadcom, BroadSoft, Brocade Communications Systems, ClearOne, Jabra, Plantronics, RADVISION, Siemens Enterprise Communications, Teliris, Vidyo, and VOSS Solutions.
Cisco and Avaya were notably absent from the member list at launch, but UCIF has invited them to join as early members.
UCIF membership is open to hardware and software solution providers, service providers, and network operators.
The UCIF merged with the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC) on July 28, 2014.
UCIF Initiatives
UCIF is a non-profit alliance dedicated to enhancing interoperability in unified communications, with 36 member companies and various working groups operating to achieve this goal.
The UCIF is working to define test plans and advance testing protocols to facilitate verification testing for member solutions, with a certification mark also in development.
Several technical working groups have been formed to work on initiatives like audio, video, provisioning, and instant messaging, with progress updates provided on their activities.
The UCIF aims to promote interoperability throughout the UC industry, with Polycom co-founding the organization to advance UC interoperability.
The UCIF will utilize existing industry standards and define new standards to eliminate gaps between current protocols and broad-based interoperability, with membership open to hardware and software solution providers, service providers, and network operators.
The UCIF has already delivered the Unified Communication specification for H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 SVC RTP transports VI.0, which supports the use of AVC and SVC video in various UC applications.
This specification targets a range of applications, from low-end mobile phone video chat to high-end multi-monitor telepresence systems.
