The Google Pixel 7a device is a great tool, but sometimes we just want to give our voices a break from Google Assistant. To turn it off, go to Settings > Google > Google Account services > Google Assistant.

You can also disable Google Assistant by going to Settings > System > Languages & input > Google voice typing.

Disabling Google Assistant

Alternatively, you can disable the Google Assistant app by opening the Settings app, scrolling down and tapping on "Apps" or "App Management", finding the "Assistant App", and selecting "Force Stop" and "Disable."

Next, tap on Google Assistant and then on Digital assistants from Google. You will see that "Google Assistant" is likely selected, so press on the link "You can turn off your digital assistant from Google at anytime" and select "Turn Off" in the dialog box that appears.

If you want to disable Google Assistant as the default on your Android device, you can do so by going to Settings, then Apps, then Default apps, and finally Assist and voice input. From there, tap on Device assistance app and select None to turn off the default assistant. This will disable the normal ways of opening Google Assistant, but you can still interact with it in the Assistant app.
