For TVs and media streamers powered by Android TV, you'll need to navigate to the shop tab on the home screen to access your purchased and rented movies and TV shows.
Purchasing content should remain as normal, with the Android TV shop continuing to function as usual. You'll be able to locate movies and TV shows using the search bar and buy or rent them directly through YouTube.

Features and Recommendations
With Google TV, you can get personalized recommendations based on your viewing habits. These recommendations are tailored to your interests and preferences, making it easier to discover new shows and movies.
Google sets default ordering and selections for streaming services based on app popularity, installed apps, user saved services, and contractual agreements with Google's partners. This means you'll see a curated list of services that are likely to interest you.
You can add streaming services by selecting from the list of available services using the Google TV app or a Google TV device. This will give you more content recommendations from those services, although not all shows and movies may be available for linking.
If you're signed in with your Google Account and Web & App Activity is turned on, Google makes recommendations based on several factors, including:
- What is added to the watchlist
- What is watched on Google Play, Google TV, and Android TV
- Trailers watched on YouTube
- Content purchased or rented on Google Play, YouTube, Google TV, and Android TV
- Streaming services selected
- Entertainment-related searches on Google Search or with the Google Assistant
- Specific titles liked or disliked on Google Play, Google TV, or Google Search
- Region
Watchlist
You can add movies and shows to a watchlist to find or watch content later. This feature is associated with your user account, so you can access your watchlist across devices when you're signed in.
The watchlist updates in real-time, so if you add content to it on one device, you'll see the changes on all your other devices as well. This is really convenient if you're watching something on your phone and want to pick it up later on your TV.
Certain content from some streaming services can't be added to your watchlist, so keep that in mind when you're browsing.

Recommendations and Preferences
Google's recommendations for content are based on a variety of factors, including app popularity and user preferences.
If you're signed in with your Google Account and Web & App Activity is turned on, Google makes recommendations based on what you've added to your watchlist, what you've watched on Google Play, Google TV, and Android TV, and even trailers you've watched on YouTube.
Trailers watched on YouTube are also taken into account when making recommendations, as well as content you've purchased or rented on Google Play, YouTube, Google TV, and Android TV.
You can also influence recommendations by rating followed suggested titles on a Google TV device.
Here's a breakdown of the factors that influence recommendations:
- What is added to the watchlist
- What is watched on Google Play, Google TV, and Android TV
- Trailers watched on YouTube
- Content purchased or rented on Google Play, YouTube, Google TV, and Android TV
- Streaming services selected
- Entertainment-related searches on Google Search or with the Google Assistant
- Specific titles liked or disliked on Google Play, Google TV, or Google Search
- Region
You can also add streaming services to your Google TV device to get more content recommendations from those services, but this option isn't available for all shows and movies on every streaming service.
Platforms and Devices
You can access Google TV on various platforms and devices, but not all features are available on every one.
To access your content library, you'll need to sign in on each platform. This includes the YouTube website, where you won't see ads when watching purchased content.
You can also search for titles on Google Search and add or remove them from your watchlist.
Google TV was previously available on the Google Play website, but HD playback wasn't supported, and content played in standard definition.
If you're using a Mac, you can watch purchased eligible content in HD using Safari.
