If you've accidentally updated an app on your iPhone and don't like the new changes, you can revert back to the previous version.

The first step is to open the App Store and navigate to the Updates section. From there, you can locate the app you want to revert and tap the "Not Now" or "Don't Update" button to stop the update process.

However, if you've already updated the app and want to go back to the previous version, you'll need to delete the updated app and then redownload the previous version from the App Store.

You can find the previous version of the app in the App Store's "Purchased" section, where you can redownload it for free.

Canceling an Ongoing Update

You can cancel an ongoing app update on your iPhone in a few ways.

Tap the app icon to pause the progress bar, then touch and hold the app icon and choose Cancel Download from the menu. This gives you ample time to reveal the Cancel Download option.

You can also touch and hold without pausing the download first, but pausing is just a tap away.

Canceling the update doesn’t remove the tiny blue dot below its icon, signifying a freshly installed update. This is an oversight in iOS—rest assured the app hasn’t been updated and you’re still running the older version.

To stop an ongoing app update in the App Store, go to the updates page and hit the circular progress indicator next to the name of the app.

You can quickly stop several app updates this way, particularly handy if you tend to manually download all pending updates by hitting the Update All option.

Disabling network connectivity in the Control Center can also pause an in-progress app update. Open the iPhone’s Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of Face ID iPhones or swiping up from the bottom of the screen on iPhones with a Home button.

Turn off Wi-Fi and cellular data by tapping their icons in the Connectivity card, and you have plenty of time to cancel the download altogether.
