Enabling Dark Mode
To enable dark mode on your iPhone, you need to have iOS 18 installed. You can do this by tapping and holding a blank area of the Home screen, which will make the icons jiggle and bring up the "Edit" option.
Tap the "Edit" option, and then tap "Customize" from the menu that expands. This will bring up a new menu at the bottom with different icon preferences.
To get dark icons, tap "Dark" from this menu. Your icons will change to dark gray, almost black backgrounds instantly. You can also try "Tinted" to customize dark monochromatic icons.
To apply dark mode to all your app icons, select "Dark" from the menu that appears when you press and hold in an empty area of your iPhone's home screen.

Black iOS Icons
To get black iOS icons, you'll need to have the iOS 18 beta installed on your iPhone. This will give you access to the new feature that allows you to change the app icons to dark.
To use this feature, press and hold in an empty area on your iPhone's home screen. A menu will pop up, and you can tap "Edit" in the top left corner.
You can then tap "Customize" and choose between "Dark" and "Tinted" (or "Automatic") to change the color of your app icons. If you choose "Dark" or "Tinted", you can also tap the sun icon in the bottom left corner to toggle between system-wide Dark and Light Mode.
The "Tinted" option allows you to create a monochromatic dark mode app icon setup, where you can choose the accent color. This is perfect if you want the app icon to adapt to your wallpaper's accent color.
One thing to keep in mind is that you can only change the color of all apps at once, not individual ones. So, if you want to change the color of all your app icons to black, you'll need to choose "Dark" or "Tinted" from the "Customize" menu.
Here are the steps to change your app icons to black:
- Press and hold in an empty area on your iPhone's home screen.
- Tap "Edit" in the top left corner.
- Tap "Customize" and choose "Dark" or "Tinted" (or "Automatic").
- Tap the sun icon in the bottom left corner to toggle between system-wide Dark and Light Mode.
Note that if you choose "Automatic" during the day, you won't see the app icons change to black until nighttime.

The "Dark" option gives you dark gray or almost black backgrounds, while "Tinted" allows you to customize the color of your icons with a single tinted shade. You can also choose "Automatic" to switch to dark mode at night.
You can't change the color of individual app icons, and the changes apply to both first and third-party apps.
