Logging into your student email through Gmail is a straightforward process that requires a few simple steps.

First, make sure you have a Gmail account, which is often provided by your school or university as part of your student email service.

To access your student email, go to the Gmail login page and enter your email address, which is usually in the format of your school's domain followed by your student ID number.

Your password is the key to unlocking your student email account, so make sure you enter it correctly to avoid any login issues.

Setting Up Student Email

Your student email account is created for you once you're accepted to the College, and it's used as an official means of communication with the College.

The default format for your username is the first initial of your first name, your last name, your two-digit birth month and two-digit birth day followed by @starkstate.net. You can use any Gmail sign-in page with your complete email address.

You'll receive an email account credentials brochure that lists the different accounts and briefly explains each and what it's used for. The brochure also gives you the default format used for your account credentials.

The first time you sign in to one of your designated Stark State College (SSC) accounts, you're required to change the temporary account password and set up multi-factor authentication. Once you change your password, use the new password for all your SSC designated accounts.

You can access your email from any Web-enabled computer without special software, and you have a suite of Google applications created along with your email account.

Here are some key email account restrictions:

  • Every G Suite account gets 30 GB of total storage to use with Gmail, Google Drive, and Google+ Photos.
  • Every account gets 15 GB of free space, which is shared across your Gmail, Google Drive, and Google+ Photos.
  • Gmail users can receive files of up to 50MB in size.
  • Attaching a file directly in Gmail is limited to 25MB.
  • The College may filter incoming email messages and some messages may not be delivered.
  • Certain types of attachments are blocked and will not be delivered.

Student email accounts will be deleted three years after the last date of attendance. You can move your data to another storage location like a USB drive, external hard drive, or cloud storage account, or save or transfer your data to another email account using Google Takeout.
