Losing apps on your iPhone can be frustrating, but don't worry, you can get them back using iCloud and iTunes.

First, make sure you have a backup of your iPhone on iCloud or iTunes. This will ensure that all your apps are safely stored and can be easily restored if needed.

If you have a backup on iCloud, you can restore your iPhone from the backup by going to Settings, then tapping on your name and selecting "iCloud", then "iCloud Backup", and finally selecting the backup you want to restore from.

To restore your iPhone from an iTunes backup, connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes, and select your iPhone from the top left corner of the screen.

You can also use the App Library to avoid deleting apps unintentionally. Simply swipe right on your Home Screen, and you'll be able to access all your installed apps, even if they're not currently visible on the Home Screen.

If an app has been deleted, you can redownload it from the App Store. To check if an app is still installed, search your App Library to find any installed app and add it back to your Home Screen.

If an app is missing from your Home Screen, it's likely because it's been removed from the App Library as well. Check for a hidden iPhone Home Screen if multiple apps are missing.

Here's a quick checklist to help you troubleshoot:

  • Check the App Library to see if the app is still installed.
  • Look for hidden Home Screens if multiple apps are missing.
  • Redownload the app from the App Store if it's not in the App Library.

Reinstalling Apps

Reinstalling Apps is a straightforward process that can be done in a few different ways. You can recover deleted apps on your iPhone using iTunes, the App Store, or a third-party software like Wondershare MobileTrans.

If you're using an older version of iTunes, you can connect your iPhone to your Mac, click on your device icon, and then click "Apps" to locate your missing app and click the "Install" button beside it.

You can also find deleted apps by reinstalling them from the App Store. Whether you've purchased the app or not, you can follow these steps: go to the App Store, search for the app you want to reinstall, tap the cloud icon to restore it, and wait for the app to restore.

To reinstall purchased apps, find the App you want to re-install and click the "Download Arrow" next to it to recover your deleted apps on your iPhone or iPad.

If you want to reinstall non-purchased apps, you can follow these steps: go to the App Store, search for the app you want to reinstall, tap the cloud icon to restore it, and wait for the app to restore.

To reinstall default apps that you deleted, you can open the App Store, search for the app you deleted using the search bar, and then choose the app to download.

You can restore your entire iPhone or iPad from a backup using the Bonus Method: Restore All iPhone/iPad Data From a Backup. This process will re-download all the apps that were installed on your device at the time of update, as long as they were installed from the App Store using the same Apple ID.

To restore your backup, you can do it either from your Mac or from iCloud. We have step-by-step guides for both methods in our article "How to Recover Data After Factory Reset on iPhone".

If you have hidden other home screen pages, new apps will be added to the App Library. You can access the App Library by tapping the icon that looks like a folder.

The App Library screen displays all the apps you have installed on your iPad, categorized into folders. Tap the search bar at the top to display your apps in list format, arranged alphabetically.

Alternatively, you can use Siri's search bar, which can be accessed from any screen by swiping down. You can type your query or use speech recognition by tapping the microphone icon to find deleted apps on your iPad.

You can also use the search bar at the top of the App Library to find a specific app. Simply type the name of the app, and it will appear in the list.

If you've hidden an app or it has disappeared from the Home Screen, you can find it in the App Library and add it back to your Home Screen. To do this, swipe left until you've gone one screen past your last Home Screen page, tap the Search bar, and type in the name of the missing app.

Retrieve iTunes Files

If you've deleted apps on your iPhone or iPad, you can retrieve them from iTunes. To do this, you'll need to connect your device to your computer and launch iTunes.

If iTunes is working correctly, you can use it to restore your deleted app. This method works well if you want to recover just the app, and not other content that may have been lost.

To restore your app, tap on the "Device" tab and choose your iPhone or iPad in iTunes. Then, find the app you want to re-install and click "Install" next to it.

If you've redownloaded deleted apps on your device but they're not visible, check if you have enabled Restrictions for these apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. To do this, go to the Settings, tap the "Screen Time", and then tap the "Content & Privacy Restrictions." Next, tap "Allowed Apps" and ensure the switches next to the apps you want to recover are turned on.

Restoring a backup can also recover deleted apps on iPhone or iPad. To do this, connect your device to your computer and open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later). Select your device when it appears in iTunes/Finder, click on the Restore Backup option, and then choose a backup that contains the deleted app and click Restore.

Here's a step-by-step guide to restoring a backup:

  • Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later).
  • Select your device when it appears in iTunes/Finder.
  • Click on the Restore Backup option.
  • Choose a backup that contains the deleted app and click Restore.

Remember to back up your current data first, as restoring a backup will overwrite the data currently on your device.

Retrieve Files

If you've deleted an app on your iPhone and can't find it in your purchase history, you can extract the data directly from your device using data recovery software.

These tools can not only restore apps, but also recover iPhone call history, SMS messages, contacts, photos, and more. For this article, we'll be using Disk Drill for Mac, which has consistently good recovery rates.

To use Disk Drill, securely connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac, then launch the software and select your iPhone from the list. Click "Search for lost data" and once it's done scanning, you'll be greeted with a list of data Disk Drill found.

Select all files and manually uncheck anything you don't want to restore, then click "Recover." This will bring back the deleted app along with its data.

Alternatively, if you have iTunes working correctly, you can use it to restore your deleted app. Simply connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and launch iTunes, then tap on the "Device" tab and choose your iPhone or iPad.

Find the app you want to re-install and click "Install" next to it. Note that if you have redownloaded deleted apps on your device, but they're not visible, go to check if you have enabled Restrictions for these apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

Here's how to check:

  • Go to the Settings.
  • Tap the "Screen Time"
  • Tap the "Content & Privacy Restrictions."
  • Next, tap "Allowed Apps." Ensure the switches next to the apps you want to recover are turned on.

If you've backed up your device using iTunes in the past, you can also restore a backup to recover the deleted app along with other data. To do this, connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and open iTunes, then select your device and click on the Restore Backup option.

Choose a backup that contains the deleted app and click Restore. Keep in mind that restoring a backup will overwrite the data currently on your device, so it's a good idea to back up your current data first.

If you want to recover deleted app data, such as chat histories, notes, or saved content, using a third-party tool like iMyFone D-Back can be incredibly helpful. This software allows you to recover deleted apps on iPhone/iPad along with their data.

Using Tools

If you've hidden an app or it has disappeared from the Home Screen on your iPhone, the first place you should look is the App Library.

The App Library is a feature on your iPhone where every app can be found, even if you've removed it from your Home Screen. You can access it by swiping left until you've gone one screen past your last Home Screen page.

To put an app back on the Home Screen, tap the Search bar in the App Library and type in the name of the missing app. When you see the app, press and hold the app icon until a menu appears, then tap Add to Home Screen.

If you don't see the Add to Home Screen option, it's likely because the app is already on your Home Screen, possibly hidden in an app folder. However, if you want to add the app icon anyway, you can press and drag the app icon onto your Home Screen.

Alternatively, you can use a tool like Wondershare MobileTrans to backup and restore your apps. This software allows you to backup your apps to your computer and export them to APK/IPA file with one click.

If you've backed up your apps using Wondershare MobileTrans, you can restore them to your iPhone by launching the software on your computer, establishing a connection with your iPhone, and navigating to the "Phone Transfer" tab. From there, you can choose the apps you want to transfer and hit the "Install" button to start the transfer process.

Here are the steps to install old apps on your iPhone using Wondershare MobileTrans:

  • Launch Wondershare MobileTrans on your computer and connect your iPhone using a USB cable.
  • Navigate to the "Phone Transfer" tab and select the "Import to Phone" feature.
  • Choose the apps you want to transfer and hit the "Install" button.
