To email a Google Doc for collaboration, you'll want to start by opening the Google Doc you want to share. Make sure you're signed in to your Google account.
Next, click on the "File" menu and select "Email as link." This will allow you to share a link to the Google Doc with others, rather than attaching the file itself. This is a great way to collaborate on documents without sending large files back and forth.
You can also choose to make the document editable by the recipient, or you can limit their permissions to view-only. To do this, click on the three vertical dots next to the recipient's email address and select "Permissions." From there, you can choose the level of access you want to grant.
To add recipients to the email, simply type in their email addresses in the "To" field. You can also add a subject line and a brief message to explain what the document is about.

Sending Emails
You can send Gmail emails for new documents in folders in Google Docs using Zapier, a no-code automation tool that connects your apps into automated workflows.
Zapier lets you move forward at growth speed by automating tasks without needing to code.
To use Zapier, you'll need to connect Google Docs and Gmail.
Here are the apps you'll need to use:
- Google Docs
- Gmail
If you want to send a Google Doc in an email without the Google Docs branding, you can use the second method, which involves converting the doc into a file type of your choice and sending it as an email to the recipient's email address.
This method will send the email from the recipient's email address, not Google.

Sharing and Collaborating
To share a Google Doc, you'll want to use the Share options. Click Share in the top-right corner, add the emails of the people you want to share it with, and make sure the Notify people box is checked. This will send them a notification and allow them to open the doc from the email.
You can also share a Google Doc from Google Drive by right-clicking a file and selecting Share. This will give you the option to copy a link or send the notification directly from Google Drive.
If you want to share a Google Doc without knowing the recipient's Gmail address, you can use link sharing. To do this, click on the Share button, then Get shareable link, and copy the link to your clipboard. This link can be set to "can view" or "can edit", depending on your needs.
Share
Sharing a Google Doc is easier than you think. You can share it with others by clicking the Share button in the top-right corner of the screen.
To share a Google Doc via email, you'll need to add the recipient's email address to the Share options. Make sure the Notify people box is checked, and click Send.
The recipient will receive a notification that they've been shared on the doc, and they can open it from that email. This is a convenient way to share your Google Doc with others.

If you don't know the recipient's email address, you can use link sharing in Google Docs. To do this, click on the Share button, then click Get shareable link at the top of the window. This will create a special link that you can paste into an email.
By default, the link is set to "can view", which means that anyone with the link can view and download the doc but won't be able to edit it. If you want them to be able to edit it, simply click on the drop-down menu and choose "can edit."
Here's a summary of the sharing options:
- Share via email: add email addresses to Share options and click Send
- Share via link: click Get shareable link in Google Docs and paste into email
Just remember, if you're using link sharing, only send the link to people you trust, as anyone with the link will be able to access the document.

Best Practices
When creating a Google doc, the setting is always set to private, so only the creator has access to it or anyone with the user's login details.
To ensure secure sharing, it's better to share via email, especially when sharing confidential documents, as this limits access to only the shared user with the mail address the doc was sent to.
Sharing folders instead of individual documents is a great way to simplify the process, especially if you have many documents to share. From your Google Drive, you can share an entire folder at once.
Be mindful of what you name a folder, as shared users will always see the name of a shared folder or document. Always ensure to name it appropriately.
If you need to share multiple documents, consider sharing a folder instead of each document individually. This can save you time and effort in the long run.
