Google Doc's Pageless feature allows you to create a single, scrollable document without page breaks. This feature is perfect for long documents that need to flow seamlessly.

You can access the Pageless feature by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of your Google Doc and selecting "Pageless" from the dropdown menu. This will convert your document to a single, scrollable page.

The Pageless feature is ideal for documents that don't need page breaks, such as reports, essays, and research papers. You can still add headers, footers, and other formatting elements to your document, but they will now flow continuously across the page.

Formatting Basics

What is Format?

That's it! You're now using the Pageless format in your Google Docs browser.

You can easily switch back to the traditional page format by following the same steps and selecting Switch to Pageless format again.

Customizing Text

You can choose from three text widths for pageless documents: narrow, medium, or wide. This setting applies to all pageless documents you view.

Your text width choice won't affect how collaborators see your documents, so feel free to experiment and find the width that works best for you.

  1. Select View from the Google Docs menu bar.
  2. Expand the Text width menu.
  3. Select Medium, Wide, or Full.

Now, you'll have the Pageless layout as your default preference for all new documents.

Turning Features On/Off

Turning features on and off in Google Docs can be a breeze. You can easily disable the Pageless feature if you're not a fan of it.

To turn off Pageless, you need to open a new or saved Google Doc. This is the first step to reverting back to the standard format.

Select Page setup from the File drop-down menu to access the Pageless settings. You can find this option by clicking on the File tab at the top of the screen.

When the Page setup pop-up appears, select the Pages icon in the upper-left corner. This will give you access to the Saved as default option.

Click Saved as default, followed by the blue OK button at the bottom of the pop-up window. This will save your changes and disable the Pageless feature.
