Over 950 vendors will be in attendance, with many ready to debut FMC products. UTStarcom will be unveiling its Continuity product line, which includes a server based on the company's software-switch platform coupled with handsets supporting Wi-Fi and GSM.

Convergin has announced its Wireless Convergence Server, which enables carriers and providers to make hand-offs from Wi-Fi to cellular without changing the level of service to the end user. The company is a member of MobileIGNITE, an industry association promoting FMC.

The immediate future of FMC is for early adopters and pilot programs. The breakout period for sale of FMC devices is expected to be 2007-2008, with prices dipping below $400 per handset by then.
