Garmin watches are a popular choice among fitness enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers, but can they work with iPhones? The answer is yes, but there are some things to consider.
Garmin watches are compatible with iPhones, but you'll need to make sure your watch and phone are connected via Bluetooth. This will allow you to receive notifications, control music playback, and track your fitness activities.
To pair your Garmin watch with your iPhone, go to the Garmin Connect app and follow the prompts. You'll need to have the Garmin Connect app installed on your phone and your watch connected to the app.
Garmin watches can also track your fitness activities, including running, cycling, and swimming, and sync the data with your iPhone. This means you can access your fitness data on your phone and track your progress over time.

Forerunner 245M
The Garmin Forerunner 245M is an excellent choice for runners, especially those with iPhones. It comes with a 24/7 heart rate monitor that I've found to be accurate during my daily usage.
This smartwatch also features a SpO2 tracker, which I tested against an oximeter and was pleased to see that it returned similar results every time. The test video is available to check out.
The Forerunner 245M has 3.5 GB of internal storage, which I use to download music to the watch. You can then listen to these songs by connecting a wireless headphone to it.
However, I've noticed that listening to music while working out reduces the battery life of the watch by almost half. When I don't listen to music, I get a battery life of around 5 days from the watch, but when I do, I get a battery life of around 2-2.5 days.
Here are some key features of the Forerunner 245M:
- 50M water-resistant rating
- Multiple satellite navigation system
- Provides extensive performance tracking data
- Heart rate, stress, SpO2, sleep tracker
- 5-6 days battery life
iPhone iOS Call Limits

iPhone (iOS) restricts some important functionalities for Garmin watches, such as receiving and making calls, speaking into the watch, and answering or canceling calls with text messages.
This limitation is currently in place, and it's unclear if it will be fixed with upcoming updates or remain restricted forever.
The exact nature of these restrictions is still unclear, but it's clear that iPhone (iOS) is limiting the capabilities of Garmin watches in some significant ways.
Users who are affected by these limitations may need to explore alternative solutions or compromises to get the functionality they need.
