If you're having trouble downloading the TikTok Android app through the Google Play Store, you might need to sideload it. This can be due to issues with the app's compatibility with your device's operating system.

The most common cause of sideload issues is a mismatch between the app's required Android version and your device's actual version. For example, if the app requires Android 10 or later, but your device is running Android 9, you'll encounter problems.

To sideload the TikTok Android app successfully, you need to enable the "Unknown Sources" option in your device's settings. This allows your device to install apps from outside the Google Play Store.

Make sure to only download the app from the official TikTok website to avoid downloading malware or a modified version of the app.

To sideload the app, users can download Android Package Kits from TikTok's official website. This is a special case, as companies typically don't endorse sideloading.

The app briefly went offline on January 19 before a law banning it in the US took effect. The law requires the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to remove TikTok's listing if they don't want to get slapped with a fine amounting to $5,000 for every user in the US who downloads the app.

TikTok has bypassed restrictions in the US that prevent users from downloading the app on an Android device. This is done through a process called sideloading, where users can install the app through TikTok's website.

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order delaying the nationwide ban, but the app remains unavailable through the Apple and Google app stores. TikTok is now allowing people to download and update the app on Android devices without going through the Google Play store.

Apple does not allow apps to be sideloaded to iPhones or iPads, however TikTok is still available through a web browser on those devices.

TikTok is currently not available on the Google Play Store in the US due to a law that bans it unless its parent company ByteDance sells it to an owner based in the country.

The law requires the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to remove TikTok's listing if they don't want to get slapped with a fine amounting to $5,000 for every user in the US who downloads the app.

A 75-day pause on the law was put in place by President Donald Trump, giving ByteDance until April to reach a deal.

Vice President J.D. Vance is reportedly in charge of negotiating a potential sale before the deadline.

ByteDance has repeatedly said it had no plans to sell TikTok, but one of its biggest investors recently said a deal is in "everybody's interest".
