Scandinavia Meter Reading Contract
Telenor Cinclus, a part-owned subsidiary of Telenor, the largest telecommunications company in Norway, was the first company in Scandinavia to provide a large-scale, GPRS-based automated energy meter reading solution using BEA Systems' WebLogic Integration technology.
This solution was designed to support the Swedish authorities' requirements for all households to have automatic meter reading by the year 2009.
Telenor Cinclus implemented the automated meter reading system to make it easier and less time-consuming for consumers to monitor their energy consumption, simplify the collection of meter data for the energy provider, and enhance the security of energy supply.
The company estimated that using WebLogic Integration technology allowed them to bring the AMR solution to market 50 percent faster than they would have otherwise.
