SparkleShare is a secure and private file sharing solution that lets you share files with others without having to worry about data breaches or unauthorized access.

With SparkleShare, you can share files with anyone, regardless of their location, and rest assured that your data is safe.

One of the key features of SparkleShare is its end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the person you share the file with can access it.

You can also set permissions for who can view or edit the file, giving you complete control over who has access to your data.

Getting Started

SparkleShare is a user-friendly cloud storage solution that's easy to set up, even for those who aren't tech-savvy.

Download the SparkleShare application from the official website and follow the installation instructions.

How It Works

SparkleShare creates a special folder on your computer to manage your projects. This folder is the central hub where all your projects are stored and synced.

You can add remotely hosted folders, also known as "projects", to this folder. These projects will be automatically synced with the host and all your peers.

When someone adds, removes, or edits a file in a project, the changes are reflected instantly across all connected devices. This ensures everyone is working with the same up-to-date information.

To get started with SparkleShare, you'll need to download the app from the releases page. This is the first step in setting up your SparkleShare system.

Setup and Configuration

Setting up a host for SparkleShare is relatively easy, as it uses Git and Git LFS under the hood. You can use your own host for more privacy and control, as well as cheap storage space and higher transfer speeds.

If you need to manage a lot of projects and users, hosting a GitLab Community Edition instance is recommended. SparkleShare has a simple script to help with the setup process.

After installing the software, you'll need to add your repository by clicking on the menu selection "SparkleShare" / "Add Hosted Project".

To do this, select "On my Own Server" and fill in the field "Address" with the following text: ssh://[email protected].

Then, fill in the "Remote Path" field with the name of the desired repository, such as "it".
