You can search for contacts in Skype using various methods.

To search the Skype directory, you can search by name, Skype Name, location, email address, or Microsoft account. For example, you can search for someone by their full name, such as "Sean Chai", or by their Skype Name, like "SC0199."

You can also search for contacts by location, such as "in Chicago" or "in Illinois." If you know someone's email address, you can search for them by typing it into the search box, like "[email protected]." Similarly, if you know someone's Microsoft account, you can search for them by typing it into the search box, like "[email protected]."

To search for new contacts, you can access the Add Contacts page and use the search bar in the upper right corner of the application. If you have information in hand, such as a name, email address, or Skype user ID, type it in to search for the contact.

Alternatively, you can specify search parameters for the users you are interested in locating. You can search by country, state, city, and can narrow your results by language, age, or gender.

Once you have found the contact you are looking for, you can send an Add Contact request by clicking the green icon image of a person and a plus sign. You will be asked to type a personal message to go with the request or leave the default message "Please add me as a contact."

Adding contacts on Skype is a straightforward process. To start, your administrator needs to enable Skype Directory search for your organization.

You'll know if it's enabled because you'll see a Skype Directory tab in your search results. If you don't see this option, it hasn't been enabled by your admin.

To add a contact with a Skype account, type their name, email address, IM address, or Skype phone number in the search box. As you type, the view changes to My Contacts, and you can choose Skype Directory.

Right-click the person's picture and select Add to Contacts List, then choose the contact group. Be aware that their status will be pending until they sign in to Skype and accept your request.

If you sent a request and they never receive it, ask them to send you a request to chat. This often establishes the connection.

If you're using a mobile device, there are a couple of ways to find and add people on Skype. You can use the Contacts Menu or the Search feature.

To start, tap the Contacts tab at the bottom-right corner of the screen. This will open up the Contacts Menu.

Tap the "New Contact" icon, which looks like a person with a + icon, to begin adding a new contact.

Type the full name, Skype username, or email address into the search field, and a list of users that match your search criteria will automatically populate below the search field.

Alternatively, you can use the Search feature by tapping the search field at the top of the page. Type in the full name, Skype username, or email address, and a list of users will appear.

Tap More underneath "Skype directory" to load all profiles that match your search.

Once you've found the person you want to add, tap on their profile to open it in full. Depending on their privacy settings, you may see additional details such as their profile photo, location, and more.

To add the person as a contact, tap the Add contact button, which is below their profile picture.
