Google's dominance in the tech industry has led to a growing concern about its impact on our online lives.

The company's vast resources and capabilities have made it nearly impossible for new bloggers to compete.

Many users have reported feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information available on Google's platforms.

The company's algorithms prioritize content that generates the most clicks and views, often pushing quality and accuracy to the side.

The Problem with Google Blog

Google Blog, a platform that was meant to help businesses and individuals share their stories, has become a problem in itself. It's cluttered with irrelevant content, making it difficult for users to find what they're looking for.

According to the article, Google Blog has over 1 billion posts, which is a staggering number that can be overwhelming. This makes it hard for new content to get noticed.

The lack of curation and moderation on Google Blog has led to a surge in low-quality content, which can be detrimental to businesses trying to establish their online presence.

Deprecation

Google Blog Search was shut down on May 26, 2011, after being announced as deprecated by Google on the same day.

The deprecation of Google Blog Search was part of a larger announcement by Google that affected several other APIs.

As of February 9, 2017, Google's blog search was still available, but required users to navigate through the "News" and "Tools" options on a Google search page.

Users could access Google blog search by clicking on "News", then "Tools", and finally selecting "Blogs" from the dropdown menu.

However, by February 2021, the "Blogs" option had completely disappeared from Google's search options.

Despite this, users of Google Alerts were still able to select "blogs" as the source for a particular custom alert.

Writers Left Behind

Many writers have lost their livelihoods due to Google's algorithm changes, which have made it increasingly difficult to get their content seen.

In 2013, Google's Panda update caused a significant drop in traffic for many websites, leading to a loss of income for writers who relied on these sites for their living.

The rise of Google's AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) format has also made it harder for writers to earn money from their content, as it prioritizes speed over monetization.

AMP pages often lack the features that allow writers to monetize their content, such as ads and affiliate links.

The shift to Google's Featured Snippet format has also hurt writers, as it often replaces their content with a brief summary or answer to a user's query.

This format change has reduced the visibility of writers' work, making it harder for them to get their content seen.
