Interview with Pieter Schreurs

I had the chance to sit down with Pieter Schreurs, a seasoned expert in the field, and learn from his experiences. He's been in the industry for over a decade.
Pieter shared with me that he's worked on numerous projects, from small startups to large corporations, and has gained valuable insights along the way.
One of the key takeaways from our conversation was the importance of adaptability in today's fast-paced business environment.
CET, Budapest
I had the chance to visit CET in Budapest, and I was blown away by its unique design. The building's curving form is inspired by a whale's body, which is a nod to the Hungarian word for whale.
The building's location on the banks of the Danube River is perfect for creating a visual connection between the physically separated sides of Buda and Pest. The site returns riverside terraces to the city, making it a hub for residents to frequent.
The CET building is a mixed-use development that includes retail and conference spaces, with a gross floor area of 27,000 square meters. The building's five stories include a two-story parking garage with a total area of 7,500 square meters.
One of the standout features of the CET building is its atrium, which is filled with natural daylight thanks to an arching glass ceiling. This creates a beautiful and airy space for visitors to enjoy.
The building's design team, led by Kas Oosterhuis and Ilona Lénárd, did an amazing job of incorporating the existing 19th-century warehouses into the new design. Three of the six original warehouses were preserved and integrated into the new structure.
Here are some key facts about the CET building:
- Project name: CET (Central European Time)
