Switching to Legacy Outlook
You can switch back to Legacy Outlook at any time by launching Outlook and clicking on the Help menu, then selecting Revert to Legacy Outlook.
Accounts added in the new Outlook for Mac won't automatically be added to Legacy Outlook, and vice versa, so you'll need to manually manage your accounts between the two versions.
If you're looking for a specific feature, Legacy Outlook might still be the way to go, especially if you're used to a certain workflow.
To view your Microsoft 365 Groups in Mail, look under the Groups node for your account, and in Calendar, find them below your calendar folders.
Legacy Outlook still has some features that the new Outlook for Mac doesn't, so it's worth considering if you're a power user.

Opening Additional Mailboxes
Opening additional mailboxes in Outlook for Mac can be a bit tricky, but don't worry, I've got you covered. You can add another Exchange account by using additional mailboxes credentials, which is not recognized as adding a shared mailbox.
To do this, click on the Tools menu and select Accounts. Then, click the plus sign and choose New Account to add an additional Exchange account. You'll need to enter the email address of the shared mailbox in the E-mail address field.
You can then enter the credentials for the shared mailbox under Authentication. This method is not recognized as adding a shared mailbox because you're adding the additional account using its own credentials.

Shared Mailbox Add-In Availability
In Outlook on Mac, add-in support in shared mailboxes varies depending on the scenario.
You can use any of the methods to add a shared mailbox account as an option in the From field when composing emails. This lets you select the account in the From field regardless of whether you have permissions to send from this account. If you do not have "Send As" or "Send On Behalf of" permissions for the account, email from the account will not be sent.

To open a shared folder, you can use the "Open other user's folder" method, which is suitable for folder-level permission to the Inbox, Calendar, or Address Book primary folder.
For delegate permission to a mailbox or folder-level permission to the Task and Note primary folders, you'll need to add the mailbox under "Open these additional mailboxes" under account advanced settings.
