What Are Progressive Web Apps

Progressive Web Apps, or PWA, are websites combined with mobile app features, allowing you to use them like regular apps on your computer.

You can install YouTube as an app using PWA feature, for example, and use it the same way as other apps on your computer.

Unfortunately, PWA feature is not supported in iPhone Safari browser, but you can use a similar feature called "Add to Home Screen" which is also considered as PWA.

Adding to home screen does not work in iPhone in offline mode, but you can still access the pages you've accessed previously without internet connection.

The major purpose of PWA is to be accessed offline, and you can view the pages you've accessed previously without internet connection.

You can add apps to your iPhone home screen using a feature called "Add to Home Screen" which is also considered a Progressive Web App (PWA). This feature allows you to use a website like an app.

To add a website as an app, you need to use Safari, as this feature only works with Apple's default browser. Open Safari and go to the website you want to save.

Tap the Share button, which looks like a square with an upward arrow located at the bottom of the screen, and select "Add to Home Screen". This will add a preview of the icon along with the website's name, which you can rename to something shorter or more recognizable.

The website will now appear on your home screen as an app icon after you tap "Add". This is a great way to streamline your browsing experience and access your most visited sites with ease.

You can also add all your apps to the home screen at once from the App Library, which will restore any missing apps that might have disappeared from your home screen.

Managing your iPhone home screen can be a bit tricky, especially with all the new features in iOS 14 and 16. You can restore all missing apps by adding all apps to the home screen at once from the App Library.

If you've hidden some home screen pages, you can easily unhide them by long-pressing an empty area on your home screen, tapping the page dots, ticking the circle under the app pages you want to unhide, and then tapping Done.

You can also create multiple combinations of lock screen and home screen, use Focus Mode to automatically switch wallpapers at specific times, and use the Photo Shuffle feature to display wallpapers randomly. However, keep in mind that you can only set one wallpaper for all pages.
