You can insert a Google Sheet into a Google Slide and keep it live, allowing you to update the data in real-time. This is possible with the 'Live update' feature.

To use this feature, you'll need to have a Google Sheet and a Google Slide presentation open at the same time.

Add Sheets to Slides

Adding a Google Sheet to your Google Slides is a great way to keep your data up-to-date and organized.

You can link Google Sheets and Google Slides easily by following a few simple steps. Importing spreadsheet data into a slideshow eliminates the need to copy all that information over manually.

With Google Sheets, you can update your data and see the changes reflected in your slideshow automatically. This integration is useful even if you don't want to share the Sheets file.

To add a table from Google Sheets into Google Slides, start by opening the slide where you want the sheet pasted into. Navigate to Google Sheets and find the data or table that you want to copy.

Highlight the entire range that you want to put into your slide and right-click to select Copy. Then, open up your slide and right-click to select Paste.

If you want your table to have the ability to update as your data updates, make sure “link to spreadsheet” is selected. Click on the PASTE button when you are done.

You will now see that your Google Sheet data is pasted into your slide. If your original data updates and you want to refresh the data in your Google Slide, click on the update button.

To insert a Google Sheet into Google Slides, you can also choose to paste it unlinked, but this means the data won't update automatically. A popup will appear asking if you want to paste the data linked or unlinked.

If you paste it linked, changes in the spreadsheet will carry over to the Slides file. This is the option we’ll use for this tutorial, so check Link to Spreadsheet and click Paste.

The table will be inserted, and you can drag and drop to reposition it as needed. You can also resize it using the small drag handles in the corners of the table.

Working with Embedded Tables

You can update the embedded table by going back to the Google Sheet to make changes. When you come back to the Google Slide, a new option will be available to update the table.

To link a range of data, select and copy the range from the spreadsheet, then open the Slides document and go to Edit > Paste. If you're working with a fresh slideshow, clear out any templated items that might clutter the slide.

Here's a step-by-step guide to linking a range of data:

1. Select and copy the range from the spreadsheet.

2. Open the Slides document and go to Edit > Paste.

3. Choose Link to spreadsheet and then PASTE on the prompt.

4. The exact columns and rows you copied from Google Sheets now appear in Google Slides.

The data in the Slides presentation is linked, but won't update automatically. To update the data, make changes in Google Sheets, and then click on the table in Slides to reveal an Update button.

Maintaining Real-Time Updates

To keep your Google Slides presentation up-to-date, you need to keep the link between the Sheet and Slide active. Don't delete or move the original spreadsheet, as this will break the connection.

If you need to refresh the data, click on the chart and select Update in the top right corner. This will ensure your presentation displays the most current data.

To maintain real-time updates, ensure you have the necessary permissions to access and modify both the Sheet and Slide. This will allow any changes made in the Google Sheet to automatically reflect in the Google Slides presentation.

Here are the steps to maintain real-time updates:

  1. Keep the link active: The link between the Sheet and Slide must remain active.
  2. Refresh the data: Sometimes, you may need to manually refresh the slide.
  3. Check permissions: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access and modify both the Sheet and Slide.

Troubleshooting and Tips

If your chart in Google Slide isn't updating, try refreshing the slide and double-checking that the link to the spreadsheet is still active.

Permissions errors can occur if you don't have the correct permissions for both the Sheet and Slide. Request access or adjust sharing settings to resolve this issue.

To start, copy the cells or chart from the Google Sheets document you want to import. This will allow you to easily transfer the data into your Slides presentation.

When you paste the data into Slides, be sure to choose the "Link to spreadsheet" option. This will keep your data up-to-date and ensure that only the information you want to present is displayed on the slide.

Editing the spreadsheet is also crucial, as it allows you to change the data in the slide without having to manually update each individual slide.

Addressing Common Issues

If your chart isn't reflecting changes, try refreshing the slide. Double-check that the link to the spreadsheet is still active.
