To check text messages on Android, you can access the Messages app, which is usually pre-installed on your device.

The Messages app allows you to view all your conversations in one place, making it easy to keep track of your messages. You can also use the search function to find specific conversations or messages.

To manage your conversations, you can delete or archive messages by long-pressing on the conversation and selecting the desired option.

Exporting Texts to PC

You can use a third-party app called Droid Transfer to view your Android messages on PC. It's originally meant for backing up your phone's contents to your computer, but it also comes with an SMS transfer feature.

To set up Droid Transfer, you need to use the same Wi-Fi network on both devices. This is crucial for the syncing process to work smoothly.

You'll need to download the Droid Transfer app on your Windows PC from the official website, and install the Transfer Companion app on your Android from the Google Play Store.

Launch both apps, and on your PC, a QR code should be displayed. On your Android, you'll need to open the Messages tab on the left side panel, which will send a prompt to your Transfer Companion app.

Press "Allow" on your phone to authorize the app to access your contacts and SMS messages. On your PC, click on "Retry" to start syncing your text conversations, which may take some time depending on how many messages you have.

Once the conversations sync, you'll see them arranged alphabetically in the Messages tab. You can then click on the texts you want to read, and Droid Transfer will load the entire conversation for you.

The app lets you print text messages from your Android as well, but there are limitations to the printing feature. You may need to buy the full version to access all the features.

Read Receipts

Read receipts are a convenient feature that lets you know when someone has read your message. They're available in Google Messages, which has become the standard messaging app on Android.

To view read receipts in Google Messages, you'll need to have RCS (Rich Communication Services) enabled. RCS has been the messaging standard on Android since 2019, and it's also available on iOS 18.

Here's a quick legend to help you understand what the different icons mean:

  • Timer/Stopwatch: The message is currently being sent.
  • Single check: The message has been sent from your end.
  • Double check: The message has been delivered to the recipient.
  • Filled double-check: The message has been read by the recipient.

If you're having trouble viewing read receipts, check if RCS is enabled on your phone. If you see the "SMS/MMS" label in a conversation, it means RCS isn't properly enabled. Tap on your profile picture and navigate to Message settings > RCS chats to view the status of this feature.

Searching and Managing Texts

You can search for specific text messages in the Android Messages app directly. Just open the app and look for the search bar at the top of the screen.

To search for a particular message, enter the keyword in the search bar and the related messages will be displayed on the screen.

However, the inbuilt Message App's searching function is very simple and may not meet all your requirements.

You can use an assistant software like MobiKin Assistant for Android to help you find and manage your wanted messages more easily. This software can detect your connected device and show you detailed information about your phone.

To use MobiKin Assistant for Android, connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable and launch the program on your computer. Then, click on the SMS option in the left panel to locate all your messages.

With MobiKin Assistant for Android, you can type in the key words of the wanted messages in the search bar to get them easily. After finding the text messages, you can send, receive, or backup them on the computer freely.
