What is GrenoblIX

GrenoblIX is a contraction of Grenoble and GIX, which stands for the Grenoble global internet exchange. It's a bit of a mouthful, but essentially it's a hub for internet traffic.

GIX, or global internet exchange, is a type of node that facilitates the exchange of internet traffic. GrenoblIX operates as a NAP, or network access point, allowing companies to buy and sell internet transit.

GrenoblIX was founded in 2011 by the non-profit organization Rezopole in Grenoble. It's a significant player in the region's tech scene.

GrenoblIX operates two sites: GrenoblIX 1 in the COGENT datacenter and GrenoblIX 2 in the Eolas groupe datacenter. The latter is notable for being the first eco-friendly datacenter in France.

Peering and Connectivity

At GrenoblIX, peering is a key aspect of our connectivity services. This allows members to filter received routes and choose to announce their prefixes only on certain Internet eXchange points within the BGP community.
