First, log in to your Blogger account and select your Blogspot blog. Then, go to Settings > Basic and click on the + Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog link under the Publishing section. Add your custom domain name with the www address, like www.tutsplanet.com.

You'll see an error page saying "We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12." This means you need to configure your domain in the custom domain's control panel. Blogspot will show you the CNAME records you need to update.

To update the CNAME records, log in to your GoDaddy account dashboard, click on Manage Domains, and then add the CNAME records as shown in the screenshot. Repeat this step for the remaining 3 records.

You can also tick the Redirect without www domain to with www option. To set up a redirect from the non-www to the www version of your domain, you'll need to add 4 A records in your domain's DNS settings that point to the following IPs:

  • 216.239.32.21
  • 216.239.34.21
  • 216.239.36.21
  • 216.239.38.21

DNS and CNAME Records

To set up a custom domain on BlogSpot, you'll need to add CNAME records to your domain registrar's DNS settings. Go to your domain registrar's DNS settings and click on "Add" to create a new CNAME record.

Choose CNAME as the type, enter "www" for the Host field, and enter the value provided by Blogger in the error message for the Destination field. Leave the TTL field as default and click Save.

You may need to delete an existing CNAME record with "www" Host Name to add the new one. Alternatively, you can edit the existing CNAME record with the new values.

For the second CNAME provided by Blogger, follow the same procedure and add a new CNAME record with the Host Name and Destination value provided in the error message. Save the changes.

Make sure you don't have an A record with a "Parked" value in your DNS settings. If you find one, delete it to avoid displaying "Parked by GoDaddy" on your domain.

To delete a record, click the Edit icon and then the Delete icon. It's that simple.
