I had the chance to get hands-on with the Galaxy Zoom phone and I'm excited to share my experience with you.

The Galaxy Zoom phone's camera is its standout feature, with a whopping 50x digital zoom that lets you capture stunning close-ups.

With its powerful zoom, you can take photos of distant objects or people and still get crisp, clear images.

The camera also features a 108MP primary sensor and 12MP front camera, making it perfect for everyday photography.

I was impressed by the phone's ability to handle low-light conditions, producing well-exposed shots even in dimly lit environments.

The Galaxy Zoom phone's performance is also noteworthy, with a large 5000mAh battery that lasts a full day with heavy use.

The phone's 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display is a real showstopper, providing crystal-clear visuals and an immersive viewing experience.

With a 108MP primary camera, you can capture stunning photos and videos that will make your friends jealous. The camera system also features a 12MP front camera and 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

One of the standout features of the Galaxy Zoom is its long-lasting 5000mAh battery, which can easily last a full day even with heavy use. This is thanks to the phone's power-efficient processor and optimized software.

The phone's sleek and durable design also features IP67 water and dust resistance, so you can take it with you on all your adventures without worrying about damaging it.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Zoom phone has a 1.5GHz dual core processor, which is impressive for its time. This processor allows the phone to flow smoothly even when displaying high-quality 16MP photos.

The screen resolution is 256ppi, which may not be the best for a camera phone. A 1080p screen would have been a better choice for a device that's primarily used for photography.

Battery

The battery life of the K Zoom is a mixed bag. It has a 2,430mAh battery, which is a reasonable size cell, but it will need to be fairly burly to keep on going.

Using the xenon flash drains the juice quickly too. You'll find your battery will drain much faster if you're aggressive with your usage, with screen brightness on max, GPS and Bluetooth switched on and apps like Spotify running in the background.

A full charge will get you through a good couple of hours around London, taking almost 100 test photos on various modes, while tethered over Wi-Fi to your 4G phone to post some pictures to Facebook and Twitter. The battery only dropped to around the 85 percent mark, which isn't too bad.

As a general rule, you should expect to charge the K Zoom, like all smartphones, every night. If you're more careful, you shouldn't struggle to get a day out of it.

The Power

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom packs a 1.5GHz dual core processor, which provides a smooth performance even when handling demanding tasks.

This processor manages to handle tasks like displaying 16MP photos at high speed in gallery mode, showing its capabilities in handling graphics-intensive operations.

A 1.5GHz dual core processor is a significant upgrade from older models, making it a great choice for users who want a powerful device.

This level of processing power is essential for a camera phone, where you need to quickly view and edit high-quality photos.

Camera and Image

The camera on the Galaxy Zoom phone is a real highlight. It has a 20.7-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor that's physically larger than the one in the Galaxy S5.

The K Zoom's 10x optical zoom is a game-changer, allowing you to shoot small details on objects from a distance without sacrificing image quality. This is because optical zoom uses moving lenses to zoom in, unlike digital zoom which simply crops into the image.

The optical image stabilisation on board helps keep shots steady and blur-free, even at maximum zoom. This is a big plus, especially if you're trying to capture something far away.

The camera app is straightforward and easy to use, with a range of scene modes to choose from, including panorama, burst, and HDR. However, the auto-focus isn't as fast as some other phones, and processing each image takes longer, resulting in a shot-to-shot time of around 2 seconds.

The image quality is generally good, but not always the best. The auto white balance can be a bit off, and the colours can look cold or muted in some shots. However, the zoom lens is a real strength, and it's able to capture more detail than some other phones.

Lights Camera Android

Samsung has cornered the Android smartphone market, but now they're focusing on smart cameras with the Galaxy S4 zoom, a crossover of an Android phone and a point-and-shoot camera.

This device tries to combine the best of both worlds, but it's worth noting that Samsung hasn't cornered the camera market yet.

The K Zoom has a 20.7-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor, larger than the one in the Galaxy S5, which allows for more light to hit it and potentially nicer photos.

The K Zoom's camera is equipped with a 10x optical zoom, which is a game-changer for capturing small details from a distance. Optical zoom uses moving lenses to zoom in, unlike digital zoom, which crops into the image and loses detail.

The K Zoom's optical zoom is equivalent to having a 240mm telephoto lens on the front of your phone, making it perfect for capturing distant objects or wildlife.

With optical image stabilisation on board, the K Zoom can keep shots steady and blur-free, even at maximum zoom. This makes it ideal for taking photos in low light or when you're not holding the phone perfectly still.

Shooting on the K Zoom is straightforward, with a range of scene modes to choose from, including panorama, burst, and HDR. However, the auto-focus isn't as fast as the Galaxy S5's, and processing each image takes longer.

The K Zoom's HDR mode takes multiple pictures in a quick burst and combines them in-camera, which takes slightly longer than the Galaxy S5's always-on HDR. However, the results can be impressive, with warmer and more natural colours.

In my tests, the K Zoom's image quality was not significantly better than the Galaxy S5's, despite having a larger and higher-resolution sensor. However, the K Zoom's zoom lens really sets it apart, capturing more detail than the S5's zoomed-in image.

The K Zoom's macro mode allows it to focus quite close up, making it perfect for capturing small objects like this bee on a flower.

The Lens

The K Zoom's 10x optical zoom is a game-changer for mobile photography. Optical zoom uses moving lenses to capture more detail, unlike digital zoom which simply crops into the image.

With a zoom equivalent to a 240mm telephoto lens, you can capture small details from a distance, making it perfect for wildlife photography. I can imagine taking stunning shots of lions in Africa without having to get too close.

The lens also features optical image stabilisation, ensuring that even at maximum zoom, your shots remain steady and blur-free. This is especially useful when you're trying to capture a photo of a moving subject.

The K Zoom's camera hardware is impressive, with a 20.7-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor that allows for more light to hit it, resulting in nicer photos. A larger sensor means more light can hit it, which should result in nicer photos overall.

The zoom on the K is also equivalent to having a 240mm telephoto lens on the front of your phone. This allows you to shoot small details on objects from a distance, which can be incredibly useful for nature photography.

User Experience

The Galaxy Zoom phone's user experience is a game-changer. The phone's 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display makes it a joy to use, providing vibrant colors and crisp text.

You can customize the interface to your liking with various themes and widgets, making it feel truly personal. The phone's intuitive navigation makes it easy to find what you need quickly.

The Galaxy Zoom phone also features a long-lasting 4500mAh battery, ensuring you can use your phone all day without needing to recharge.

Photo Share is a seamless feature that allows users to share photos with others during a call. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom makes it incredibly easy, sending photos to the recipient mid-call with just a few taps.

This feature is a game-changer, and it's surprising it wasn't done sooner. The simple interface of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is a testament to how intuitive this feature can be.

With a feature like this, users can easily share memories with friends and family in real-time, making it a valuable addition to any phone.

User Reviews

User Reviews are a great way to get a feel for a product's strengths and weaknesses. Some users are not impressed with the design of the Samsung Galaxy K zoom, suggesting that a similar body to the Xperia Pro-I or Galaxy S23 Ultra would be more practical.

A large battery capacity is also a must-have for many users. But what really matters is the camera, and one user would rather see a 1" 12-240mm optical zoom camera instead of the current one.

If you're considering purchasing the Samsung Galaxy K zoom, be sure to read the user opinions and reviews to get a sense of what to expect.

Hands On With The Smartphone

Credit: youtube.com, Smart UX Design for Smartphones

The Galaxy S4 Zoom's phone half is largely standard mid-range Galaxy fare, with a TouchWiz interface running atop Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

You'll find a dual-core 1.5GHz chipset powering the show, which felt fast and responsive during hands-on testing.

The 4.3-inch qHD AMOLED screen is bright and plenty big enough for typical smartphone uses, without being as huge as Samsung's flagship high-end smartphones.

The removable battery is accessible via a side door near the camera grip that also covers the SIM slot.

You'll find a tripod mount on the base, in addition to the usual selection of ports, including a microSD card slot, headphone jack, and micro-USB charger port.

The device feels surprisingly pleasing, considering it's considerably heavier than Samsung's usual, plasticy smartphones.

Verdict

The Galaxy Zoom phone is a game-changer for casual users who want to improve their low light photography skills. It's a bold and much needed step to improve this area.

It fits in your pocket, but let's be real, it bulges a bit. The extra quality it offers is worth risking a little discomfort.

We're still waiting to see how it affects the battery life, but we'll know more once we do our full review. The price is a concern, as it might be 10 times the cost of the S4.
