Configuration

First, ensure you have two Public and Private subnets set up.

You'll need to create a new route table called Private Route.

Next, set up your Key Pair for the VM by going to EC2 - Key Pairs > Create Key Pair.

In the Key Pair creation process, select VPC: VPC AWS Subnet and Subnet: Public Subnet, then enable Auto-assign public IP.

Create a Security group with the name FortiGate Security Group and description FortiGate Security Group.

Your Security group should have all source types custom and linked to 0.0.0.0/0, which is your internet gateway.

Now, create a new Network Interface with the name FortiGate Private Subnet and link the Private subnet to it.

Add a route 0.0.0.0/0 and select Network interface.
