Sending a Facetime video message is a convenient way to communicate with friends and family who live far away. You can send a video message to anyone who has an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

To send a Facetime video message, you can use the camera on your device to record a video message. This feature is available on iOS devices running iOS 14 or later.

Facetime video messages can be up to 2 minutes long. If your video message exceeds this time limit, you'll receive an error message.

Sending Messages

Sending video messages on FaceTime is a breeze, and you can even record a retake if you're not happy with your first attempt. If your contact is on an older version of iOS, the Record Video button will be greyed out.

You'll see a five-second countdown timer before recording starts, and you can pause it temporarily if needed. If the call goes unanswered, you'll see a screen saying, "Person Is Unavailable", and you can then record a message.

To send a video message, hit the arrow button after recording. If you're unhappy with the recording, hit the Retake button to give it another go.
