The European Telecommunications Satellite Organization, or EUTELSAT, has a rich history that dates back to 1977. It was established by 17 European countries to provide satellite communications services.
EUTELSAT's mission was to improve telecommunications in Europe by providing a satellite-based network that could connect countries and territories across the continent. This was a groundbreaking idea at the time, and it paved the way for modern telecommunications.
EUTELSAT's first satellite, Eutelsat 1, was launched in 1983 and marked the beginning of the organization's successful satellite fleet. Since then, EUTELSAT has launched numerous satellites, expanding its services and capabilities.
EUTELSAT's headquarters is located in Paris, France, and it has since grown to become one of the largest satellite operators in the world.

History
The European Telecommunications Satellite Organization, or Eutelsat, was created in 1977 by 17 European countries as an interim organization to provide a satellite infrastructure for telecommunications services.
Eutelsat's main mission was to design, develop, and operate the space segment for international public telecommunications services in Europe.

In 1982, the Convention establishing Eutelsat was opened for signature, and it entered into force on September 1, 1985. This marked a significant milestone for the organization.
Eutelsat started by providing space segment capacity for basic telecommunications and audio-visual services, and it quickly expanded its activities to include television, radio broadcasting, business telecommunications, and more.
By the mid-1990s, Eutelsat had become a leading provider of satellite services in Europe and beyond.
In 1999, Eutelsat's member states decided to restructure the organization, and in 2001, all assets and liabilities were transferred to Eutelsat S.A., a private company established in Paris.
Eutelsat IGO and Eutelsat S.A. have an agreement to use the name Eutelsat, with Eutelsat IGO using the name in capital letters and followed by IGO to avoid confusion.
Here's a timeline of Eutelsat's major milestones:
