Cotton text messages have become a disturbing trend in the US, with thousands of people receiving racist messages on their phones. These messages often contain hurtful language and stereotypes about African Americans.
The messages are often sent through SMS or social media platforms, and can be difficult to track down. Law enforcement agencies are working to identify the individuals responsible for sending these messages.
In some cases, the messages are even more sinister, containing threats of violence or intimidation. This has led to a rise in anxiety and fear among African American communities.
The FBI has reported a significant increase in hate crimes related to these messages, with many cases still under investigation.

Renee received a message that said "Good afternoon Renee! You have been chosen to pick cotton at your nearest plantation. Be ready at 10am with all of your personal items & possessions because you will never see them again. We will pick you up in a white bus. You will be checked for drugs & other substances! Once you make it here you will be brought to your designed area. You are in group 10B".
