
Configuring your email settings and accounts in Microsoft Outlook for Office 365 is a straightforward process.
First, ensure you have a Microsoft 365 account and are signed in to your Outlook application.
To set up a new email account, navigate to File > Add Account in the top left corner of the Outlook window.
You can also set up your email account using the Outlook account setup wizard, which guides you through the process.
Setting Up Microsoft 365
To set up Microsoft 365, you'll need to add your email to Outlook on Windows. There are two versions of Outlook for Windows: new Outlook and classic Outlook.
You can open Outlook and check which version you're using. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the Microsoft website.
If you see a prompt that says your email is used with more than one account with Microsoft, select Work or school account (not Personal account). Enter your email password and select Sign In.

You might get a request for permission to access your account, select Accept. If prompted to stay signed in to all your Microsoft apps, select OK.
Here are the steps to add your Microsoft 365 email to Outlook on Windows:
1. Open Outlook and select File, then + Add Account.
2. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and select Connect.
3. If you see a prompt that says your email is used with more than one account with Microsoft, select Work or school account (not Personal account).
4. Enter your email password and select Sign In.
5. If you're signing in from a new device or location, you'll see a prompt to Verify it's you and confirm your identity through a one-time code.
6. If you're asked to trust your domain, select Continue.
7. If it's your first time signing in and multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled, you'll see a prompt to set up your authentication method.
8. If you already have MFA set up, verify your identity using your authentication method.
9. You might get a request for permission to access your account, select Accept.

10. If prompted to stay signed in to all your Microsoft apps, select OK.
11. Select Done.
Alternatively, if you're using classic Outlook, you can open Outlook and select File, then + Add Account. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and select Connect, then follow the same steps as above.
If you're using a different version of Outlook or a different email provider, you may need to follow different steps to set up your email.

Managing Email Accounts
Adding a new email account to Outlook is a straightforward process. You can do this by opening Outlook and selecting the appropriate tab, either New Outlook or Classic Outlook, depending on which version you're using.

Exchange Versus IMAP
Using Exchange settings for your email client can simplify the setup process. You only need to provide your email address and password, whereas IMAP settings require additional server information.
Microsoft 365 provides direct access to the USC calendar that is part of your Office 365 account. This is a convenient feature that you won't get with IMAP settings.
If you're using Microsoft Outlook, it's recommended to use the default Microsoft 365 Account type. This will ensure a smooth setup process.
Exchange is the preferred connection method supported by ITS, although they also offer IMAP4 with OAuth2 connection methods.

OAuth2 Imap/Smtp Server Settings
To set up your email client with OAuth2 IMAP/SMTP server settings, you'll need to know your Office 365 email address, password, and the Office 365 server settings.
ITS no longer permits new accounts to connect with IMAP and SMTP without OAuth2, so you'll need to update your client and configuration to an OAuth2 compatible client soon.
The incoming and outgoing IMAP server settings for Office 365 are as follows:

ITS supports connecting with other compatible mail clients using the Exchange and IMAP4 with OAuth2 connection methods, although Exchange is highly preferred.

OAuth2 Settings
To set up your Office 365 account using IMAP and SMTP with OAuth2 authentication, you'll need to know your Office 365 email address, password, and server settings.
