You can choose from 16 different color options, including solid colors and gradients. The first five options are color gradients, which will change colors as you scroll through a thread.

To change the color, open the thread you'd like to re-colorize and tap on your friend's name or the group name at the top. On Android, you can also tap the info (i) button in the top right to get to the same place.

You'll see an array of options, and tapping an option will set that color for the chat immediately. Everybody in the chat will get a notification that you changed the color.

The new color will be reflected in the chat, including the bubbles, buttons, and highlighting of the bottom icons. You'll also see an alert in the conversation that says "You set the color to [its color icon] Edit" (on iOS) or "You changed the chat colors. [Its color icon]. Change" (on Android).

If someone else changes the color, you'll see their name instead of "You" in the alert. You can quickly tap "Edit" or "Change" to bring back the color menu and change the color again.
