Advanced Redirect Options
If you're looking to dive deeper into Bluehost's domain forwarding capabilities, you'll want to explore their advanced redirect options.
For basic site-to-site or directory-to-directory redirects, you can use the 301 Redirect Option in the Bluehost Control Panel. This tool is perfect for redirecting one domain to another, but it's not suitable for redirects to specific filenames.
To use the 301 Redirect Option, locate the 'Domains' menu, then click on the 'Redirects' icon to access the 'Redirects' menu.
Here's a quick rundown of the steps to follow:
- Select the 'Type' of Redirect you want to do. Permanent (301) is the default.
- Select the domain you want to redirect from the drop down menu.
- Select where you want the domain to redirect to. You must enter a fully qualified URL.
- Select the www redirection. Redirect with or without www is the default.
- Select the Wild Card Redirect if you need it. Note that checking this box will redirect all files within a directory to the same filename in the redirected directory.
- Click the 'Add' button.
Remember, you can't use a Wild Card Redirect to redirect your main domain to a different directory on your site.
