A fresh viewpoint: Bigboss New Season
What Is?
The BigBoss repo is one of the oldest and most popular jailbreak repos out there.
It's been the default repo for many years, offering a wide range of paid and free tweaks on various jailbreaks.
BigBoss repo still holds a strong presence today, thanks to the addition of rootless tweaks support in April 2023.
This means it can once again be a central hub for tweak developers to host their tweaks for free.

The repo supports tweaks from iOS 4 all the way up to iOS 16.4 on all devices.
It's usually installed by default on jailbreaks like CheckRa1n, Unc0ver, Electra, Pangu Jailbreak, and Taig Jailbreak.
If you accidentally removed it or your jailbreak didn't come with BigBoss repo by default, you can add it manually.
Big Boss Repo News
The Big Boss Repo has undergone a significant redesign, resulting in a cleaner look and a more friendly interface. This change is limited to the BigBoss repo, so you won't see any changes in packages hosted on other repos.
The BigBoss repo hosts the majority of popular jailbreak tweaks and is essentially Cydia, hosting 99% of the tweaks that we report on. It's generally where all the action is when it comes to tweaks.
You might have noticed something a bit different with Cydia when you opened it, and that's because the BigBoss repo underwent a redesign for 2016. A cleaner look and a more friendly interface are the results of this change.
I've experienced the frustration of dealing with App Store redirects myself, getting about 5 pop-ups every time I open a page on Cydia's BigBoss repo. It's tolerable no more, and I'm not alone in feeling this way.

Tweaks and Apps
The BigBoss repo is a treasure trove of tweaks, with thousands of options available for various iOS versions. Many tweak developers choose to host their tweaks on BigBoss due to its massive popularity.
You can find tweaks ranging from cosmetic modifications to carrier bundles, custom fonts, custom keyboards, and home screen tweaks. BigBoss even hosts older themes and theming tools, although theme submissions are no longer accepted.
It's worth noting that many hundreds of tweaks are hosted exclusively on BigBoss, so it's a good idea to keep this repo added to your package manager to avoid missing out on great tweaks and their updates.

Many tweak developers choose to host their tweaks on BigBoss because of its popularity, even though it stopped accepting theme submissions a while ago.

The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. You can still install BigBoss even if you're using Installer 5.
Security and Hacking
Being cautious starts by being aware of what you install on your jailbroken device. Limiting yourself to the default repositories is good practice.
Repo maintainers like the ones from BigBoss and ModMyi do an outstanding job at analyzing jailbreak apps and tweaks before making them available for download.
Nothing is 100% safe, but safety measures can be put in place to ensure the highest level of security. This is the job of repo maintainers.
BigBoss, one of the default repositories for jailbreak tweaks in Cydia, has allegedly been hacked by an individual or a group of individuals whose identity is still unknown.
Jailbreak users should be cautious and stay away from the hacked BigBoss repo.
The attackers were able to gain access to all packages (paid and free) that are available in the BigBoss repo, and made the deb index and database available for download.
To ensure the safety of their users, repo maintainers like Optimo from BigBoss and Kyle Matthews from ModMyi take steps to analyze and vet jailbreak apps and tweaks before making them available for download.
Creating a new repo which can be added to Cydia to download all BigBoss-hosted tweaks is a concerning move by the attackers.

Cydia's App Store Redirects
Cydia's App Store redirects are a major annoyance, with nearly every download or purchase attempt resulting in multiple pop-ups. I've lost count of how many times I've had to wrestle with these redirects, and it's become a frustrating experience.
The BigBoss repo is particularly affected, with 5 pop-ups every time I open a page. This is not a minor issue, as it's tolerable, but over the last few weeks, it's reached a boiling point.
The problem is not limited to one or two tweaks, but is widespread across the BigBoss repo, which hosts 99% of the tweaks reported on. This makes it difficult to simply uninstall the repo and find alternatives.
Cydia's App Store redirects are a significant inconvenience, making it hard to navigate the BigBoss repo.

Jailbreak Tweaks
The BigBoss repo is the go-to destination for jailbreak developers and users alike, hosting thousands of free and paid-for apps and tweaks.
It's configured by default in every new installation of Cydia, so if you're jailbroken, you're already using it. The repo is massive, with over 13,943 files totaling over 19-gigabytes of data.
The hackers, going by the name of 'Kim Jong-Cracks,' claim to have made the entire BigBoss repo available to download for free.
Simple tweak to change "No Notifications" text
Jailbreaking is all about making small tweaks to enhance your iOS experience. One of the neat benefits of jailbreaking is being able to customize the text in Notification Center.
You can change the "No Notifications" text in the second tab of Notification Center with a tweak called NoNotificationsText.
Jailbreak Tweaks Now Free
The BigBoss repo, a massive repository of jailbreak apps and tweaks, has been hacked, making thousands of tweaks available for free.
The hackers, calling themselves "Kim Jong-Cracks", have set up their own version of the BigBoss repo, dubbed "ripBigBoss", which includes 13,943 files totaling over 19-gigabytes of data.
The BigBoss repo is used by most jailbreak developers and is configured by default in every new installation of Cydia, so if you're jailbroken, you're already using it.
The hackers are also reportedly planning to release system-wide anti-DRM for Cydia tweaks, which could make the free downloads even more useful.
It's highly recommended that you avoid the BigBoss repo in Cydia at all costs, as you never know what you might run into.
The hackers' version of the BigBoss repo makes even paid tweaks available for free, which we don't support at all.
