Backblaze has data centers strategically located around the world to provide fast and reliable access to your data. These data centers are situated in major cloud hubs to ensure low latency and high performance.
Backblaze has data centers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, and Singapore. These locations were chosen for their access to high-speed internet connectivity and robust infrastructure.
Backblaze's data centers are designed to be highly available and redundant, with multiple power sources and cooling systems to prevent data loss due to equipment failure. This ensures that your data is always accessible and safe.
Backblaze's global data center network provides a secure and reliable way to store and access your data, no matter where you are in the world.

Backblaze Data Center Locations
Backblaze has expanded its data center portfolio by contracting 1MW of capacity at Nautilus's floating data center in Stockton, California. This facility takes advantage of naturally cooled water to reduce its environmental impact.

The Stockton data center is the world's first floating data center and uses the natural water surrounding the facility for cooling. It runs with net-zero water consumption and no refrigerants or water treatment chemicals.
Nautilus's 7MW Stockton facility lives on a barge, enabling it to take advantage of naturally cooled water. The barge takes in external water, holding it for ~15 seconds to transfer heat to it from an internal closed loop of pure water via a heat exchanger.
Backblaze has also expanded with a new data region in the Eastern United States. This U.S. East data region provides more location choice overall, bringing increased access speed for customers based in the Eastern U.S.
The new region is located in Reston, Virginia, and features an exabyte of capacity with room to grow further. It supports SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Here are the current data center locations for Backblaze:
- Nautilus's floating data center in Stockton, California (1MW capacity)
- Reston, Virginia (U.S. East data region, 1 exabyte capacity)
These locations provide a solid foundation for Backblaze's cloud storage and backup services, with a focus on efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
Regional Expansion
Backblaze has expanded its cloud infrastructure with a new data region in the Eastern United States.
This new region, known as U.S. East, provides more location choice for customers and brings increased access speed for those based in the Eastern U.S.
The U.S. East data region is located in Backblaze's newest data center, IAD 1, in Reston, Virginia, which features an exabyte of capacity and supports various compliance requirements.
Data stored in the U.S. East region will reside in this data center, ensuring safe and readily available data for Backblaze customers.
The new region provides an additional destination for businesses seeking to store copies of their datasets to two or more cloud locations for compliance and continuity needs.
Backblaze's Cloud Replication service allows customers to copy data across the platform at no expense, making its cost-effective object storage even more compelling.
The U.S. East region is available to customers today, and the company has shared more information about Cloud Replication on its website and additional insights on the U.S. East data region on its blog.
