Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
Peter Benchley followed his massively successful novel Jaws with another commercial success--but of an infinitely sillier nature. And the movie, directed by Michael Ritchie, isn't much better. Michael Caine stars as a New York reporter who is following a hot lead about the Bermuda Triangle--and gets his story, if he can only live long enough to report it. Because, in fact, there's nothing supernatural going on--just the descendants of 18th- and 19th-century pirates living on an uncharted island. And, naturally, they're able to wreak havoc with modern sailors because they have the element of surprise on their side--not to mention the willingness to perform unspeakable acts of violence. This is less Hollywood product than byproduct. --Marshall Fine

Reviews:
Interesting and a great way to fill a rainy afternoon
A little too violent, but in context, believable. Special mention should go to David Warner who is one of the great unappreciated actors of our time. He had just been in HG Wells "Time After Time", where he portrayed Jack The Ripper, masterfully.
A good film, with an interesting idea portrayed by great acting.
great dvd b movie
This film has been said to be one of the worst ever made, well yes its low grade entertainment but for a rainy sunday afternoon and brain in natural what else do you need,on the plus side it is very well photographed and in a blue ray dvd player this dvd is the best I have seen,in fact I thought it was hd copy.Ok the film is rubbish David Warner as a pirate takes some beliveing and not Michael Cain's greatest hour. But any film buff needs a dud in there collaction and anyone else likes a no brainer, buy this aus copy for the transfer alone
Complete UnCut Letterbox DVD Please
Back when they knew how to make a Good Movie that wasn't FULL of FX.
Why O Why is this not on DVD yet?
The first Kill and The Finale were worth the price of admission alone.
The Island
I have looked for this movie for a long time. One of my favorites from the younger years. Thank you for prompt delivery. It is a great add to my movie selections.
Dont support this paid idea
Good movie, bad format. If you people would stop paying for this junk it would go away, these companies don't want you to own a movie, they are moving to formats like this so that you have to pay for each and everything. All these new "formats" are designed to keep you from ever owning a movie again.
