| Live and Learn Knots don't jump out at you. You could listen to it once or twice and write it off as a sweet but sleepy singer-songwriter exercise. Listen closely, though, and you'll discover that a song like "Something of Myself," despite its Garth Brooks-like declaration "I wanna make som... | Word of Mouth

That's what a few thousand fans got to experience at Jimmy's Caribbean shows on March 23 and 24, 2007. Now everyone else can, t... | Good Time Within his 2008 release, Good Time, a generous selection of 17 tracks, Alan Jackson sings of all sorts of times. Not only the "Good Time" of the title track--a dance floor, barroom anthem with a hint of Chuck Berry--but tender times ("Right Where I Want You"), mournful times ("S... | Ultimate Collection Just like the lead character in his classic composition "Mr. Bojangles," Jerry Jeff Walker steps to a different tune. Reviews:
Bad Boys The fact that I found this great CD at the Dollar Tree may not be a good sign for Mac, but it does add another of his great sets to my collection. This one sparkles with MacAnally's usual charm. "Bad Boy" has such great energy and banter. "People Call Me Jesus" is a real treasure that builds with its tongue-in-cheek lyric until climaxing at the end with the point, "Someday they'll know that all I am is love." The songs on this self-titled set are consistently strong with Mac's excellent songwriting. Don't let this one slip by! Enjoy! Where's "Over the Rainbow"? My Dad first turned me on to this cd, even though it was the album to begin with. Mac's music is very down to earth, and truthful. I haven't listened to the cd, but would like to know what happened to the last track on the album, "Over the Rainbow". Is it on the cd, and if not, what happened? About Dang Time After years of mediocre, commercial Mac we finally get a CD re-release of the real deal. Real People, Samuel Arisin' and, most of all, Barney are genuinely good music rivaling (at that time) Bat McGrath, Randy Newman, John Stewart, Buffett and Bob Martin as top singer-songwriter talent. Lots of Mac's later stuff was a bit contrived or made with Nashville in mind. But this album is exceptional. Thanks to whomever for getting it back out on CD - shame there weren't any bonus tracks from this era. Brilliant!! To put it simply...this is William Faulkner with a guitar. One of the finest singer/songwriter records ever produced; especially when you consider the fact that this Belmont, Mississippi native penned these songs at the ripe old age of 17. Its a crazy world--best song around The song It's a crazy world about says it all if today's day and age---Mac is just plain and simply a master singer - songwriter; the only other comparable to him in my humble opinion is Gordon Lightfoot. Mac, many kudos on a terrific CD. |
