Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
Are you a predator or are you prey? Eyewitness: Sight answers this question based purely on the location of your eyes! Another excellent video in the Eyewitness series, this one focuses on the mechanics of sight. The fast-paced and stylized direction lends itself especially well to this topic. The camera zooms in on a rabbit from the point of view of a hungry eagle, computer-generated sets fool the eye into seeing things that are not there, and the screen splits into the multifaceted lens of the common housefly. The video is not all visual trickery, however. Packed in this brief video is an impressive amount of information about sight, such as the fact that iris is the Latin word for "rainbow" and that ancient Egyptians wore their famous black eyeliner to protect their eyes from the harsh desert sun. A visual treat for parents and their science-minded kids, this video is definitely worth a look. --Michelle Riggen

Reviews:

The Eyes have it!
Eyewitness - sight, is another excellent addition to the Eyewitness series. Fans of this series can expect quality scientific entertainment for children and adults alike. Included in this video was a discussion on the anatomy of the human eye, and the way in which we see. It also discusses how animals see and perceive their world. For instance, did you know that a Cheetah has super-wide horizontal vision? This type of seeing is explained in the video, but allows the Cheetah to navigate the wide and extremely flat African grasslands and desert in which it lives. It also shows how insects view the world, and discusses how each animals way of seeing allows it to adapt to its environment. This is a must for those seeking to educate youngsters in biology or, those who are simply curious to expand their knowledge of the world of vision. My only problem with this video....Is that its only half an hour! Buy this, rent this, but make sure to add this to your collection. You won't be disappointed.
