Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] Steven Spielberg's 1982 hit about a stranded alien and his loving relationship with a fatherless boy (Henry Thomas) struck a chord with audiences everywhere, and it furthered Spielberg's reputation as a director of equally strong commercial sensibilities and classical leanings. Henry Thomas gives a strong, emotional performance as E.T.'s young friend, Robert MacNaughton and Drew Barrymore make a solid impression as his siblings, and Dee Wallace is lively as the kids' mother. The special effects almost look a bit quaint now with all the computer advancements that have occurred since, but they also have more heart behind them than a lot of what we see today. --Tom Keogh

Reviews:
phone home to a DVD player near you E.T. is one of the best family movies I've ever seen that ALSO has a bit of a scary horror vibe. You know, when aliens supposedly make a crash landing in a farmers barn in the middle of the night, and the farmer hears this and runs outside slowly with a shotgun ready to unload. That sort of happens here, except, instead of an insane farmer, it's a little boy with an older brother and younger sister.
I liked how the kids kept the alien hidden from their mother. There were some close calls though, where the mother was only one step away from finding out about the alien, but for most of the movie, E.T. was kept hidden by the kids.
The movie has good acting and really holds up well as far as family storylines go. Also the film doesn't look old for 1982 either- the picture quality is surprisingly pretty good.
One thing I think people forget to mention about E.T. is how well done the storyline is- it actually involves people feeling emotion towards aliens and open-minded about outerspace, and the alien slowly develops the same kind of feelings for humans. Very nice touch.
ET-The Extra-terrestrial This is one of the all time great movies for young and old. Speilberg touches on every human emotion in this film. Should have beat Ghandi, hands down, for Best Picture Oscar that year. It still amazes me that it didn't win because of Hollywood politics. It's the most delightful movie. Make you laugh through your tears. 2nd generation My children thoroughly enjoyed this movie when it was first released in the local movie houses many years ago. Now their children are enjoying it on the tv screen in the home of Nana & Poppa. It is played over and over. A classic that is enjoyed by all generations. No one will be sorry if they purchase this item. E. T. Phone home!!! Bought this movie for my granddaughter who has NEVER seen it! Always loved it myself---an AAA+++++ movie! Review of "E.T." movie i saw the original screen version. I bought your version for my grandson. I could swear there were some parts/sequences that were
missing from your version.
