Fun learning tool This has been a favorite of both my children. My 7-year old loved this video as a toddler and now my youngest enjoys it even more. My 22-month old loves to count with the number train and name the objects as they appear on the screen. Love that they use the same objects to show 1 item, then two, etc. it helps with counting and object recognition. We slowly started counting up to five with the video several months ago and are now starting to pass 10. Love the colors and consistency of the video. My son gets excited everytime he sees the tiger come on. excellent choice excellent entertainment, espically when you need thirty minutes to get a few things done. my daughter loves all the baby einstein dvds. Grape soda for the mind Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. Many pediatric and psychological studies have shown that young children know FEWER words for every hour they spend watching videos like this one. Why? Because they aren't spending time with YOU, practicing their language and social skills. There's also evidence that young children who watch TV have a greater risk of developing ADHD. Last, toddlers who grow up in homes with the TV always on in the background literally seem to have more trouble hearing themselves think. This hurts their developing linguistic abilities and consequently their abilities to engage silent reasoning.
Please protect your child -- don't let her watch any TV during her early, crucial, developmental years. We only watch TV when our little girl is asleep. Wonderful and age appropriate My little one absolutely loves this DVD and even asks for it by "growling" like the tiger on the front! It may surprise you that they only teach numbers up to 5, but as a former preschool teacher I believe it is very age appropriate. The DVD is not teaching them to just -count- to five, they are teaching the children how to recognize numbers up to five as well as recognize number sets (ie-when we see 4 things we don't have to count, we automatically know there are four things). I think it is wonderful, and had they gone on to teach 6-10 it not only would have been too long, but would have been overwhelming. I think it was very well made as does my 1 1/2 year old! Baby Einstein Rocks I had heard good things about the Baby Einstein books and chose to give a couple of them for a 1st birthday present. Among all the toys the child received, these books stood out and everyone at the party oooohed and aaaahed. I was so happy when I got a "thumbs up" from the mother of the birthday boy. The experience of ordering on line from Amazon is the best. I give them a "thumbs up". |
