Songs for Christmas [Read More ...]
Description: In December 2001, Sufjan set out to create a Christmas gift for his friends and family. The result was a seven-song recording that he called "Noel Vol. 1". Over the next several years, he created new EPs to add to the collection. This 5-CD box set includes all five volumes, pl...

Description: Subtitled Come On Feel The..., Sufjan Stevens & The Michigan Militia have moved to Illinois (dubbing themselves the Illinoisemakers) but this new album is the same Sufjan we know and love. Fingerpicked ballads of delicate twang, tasteful orchestration, and titles that are murder ...

Review: The wind chimes:or whatever they are get tedious on this album, which is littered with sonic experiments that lull you to sleep and pretentious song titles like "Oh God, Where Are You Now? (In Pickeral Lake? Pigeon? Marquette?)" I'd like to see Justin Timberlake cover that one. ...

Review: Wonderful Album:This album is great. Some Sufjan fans may not like it because it's so overtly Christian, but HEY! he's a Christian! It doesn't make him uncool! I love the songs, they're solid and have great lyrics (what else would you expect from a writing major), and every fa...

Description: These are tracks not used on the "Illinois" album; some songs were finished, others weren't, requiring substantial editing, arrangements and/or vocals. The centerpiece of course, is the title track, "The Avalanche", a song intended for the leading role on "Illinois", but eventual...

Great album; fun to listen to:This was my first Sufjan album after Songs for Christmas. It's got many good cuts on it (although I'm not sure newer Sufjan fans would buy into it quickly), and a few that will make you chuckle (Super Sexy Woman). I loved it and would recommend it.

Description: The first new album since Seven Swans and the second in his 52 state series. Sufjan is one of the leading figures in the twisted folk revolution that includes Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart and Iron + Wine. 22 tracks, it is a breathtaking record, sure to be in all of the end of ...

Review: People will be....:talking about this album for a long time in a couple of years. I say that because it will probably take a couple of years for people to realize that Sufjan has 2 other albums besides "Michigan" and "Seven Swans" and probably another couple of years for people t...
