Reviews:
Another Enjoyable Ginny Owens Project
I always enjoy listening to Ginny Owens. Musically and vocally she is one of my favorite artists in Christian music.
Favorite tracks are "Waiting For Tomorrow", "Long Way Home", "Tyranny" and "Pieces."
True Confessions
This is my third Ginny Owens album. I bought the two previous albums because I enjoyed her style of music but most importantly the words that she sang. This album wasn't an exception. I loved the lyrics.
As mentioned in a few badly written reviews below, she does mumble a bit on this album. And her style of music has not dramatically changed, but has slightly left my taste. However, Ms Owens's music should be received for the heart of it. At least that's how I received it.
As a huge fan of music, I know the importance of melody and the whole sound of the music. But, at times, I think it's okay to listen intensely to the words and try to get some substance out of the leisure of music listening. I find a lot of songs that I click with musically. As for music that moves me spiritually, even with Christian artists, the 'Ginny Owens' type of honest music is rare. Truly. I have been collecting music all my life. But, I have to say, the words on this album have moved me more than any other album I've listened to. If you don't enjoy the music, I recommend you read the lyrics at least. At least!
If you're looking for praise & worship songs, again, her songs are not it. Her songs are about her and her longing for God. She sings about her revelations about life as a Christ follower. She confesses her weaknesses and doubts and sings about finding God in the midst of it all. And it's so beautifully done. And truly honestly done. I will keep listening to her music, because of this.
Another great CD from Ms Owens - Grade A
I strongly disagree with the other reviews, this is a great CD!
If you've enjoyed previous inspirational offerings from Ms Owens, you will enjoy "Long Way Home" as well.
Standout tracks:
Long Way Home
Wonderful Wonder
Tyranny
Pieces
I Bring Everything
Unfortunately not as good as i expected
As I say in my title, this album was not as good as I expected it to be. Having been introjeced to Ginny Owens by the track Fellow Traveler, which is on the album, i expected the rest of the album to follow this standard as in, have tracks which were simular. it does at times, but then toehrsothers, Owens sings in what i can only describe as a "put on" jazz type voice doesn'doesn't suit her at all. it also takes away from the tone of the album, a little disappointment i would have to say at points when this occurs. I do not listne to the tracks
Overall, sometimes good, sometimes not so much..
Earlier was better
I have so enjoyed Miss Owens' songs. "Own Me" is a particular favorite. This albumn just didn't click with me...
