Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] Possessed with the heart and soul of Neil Hagerty and Neil Young, Wooden Wand leads the band - featuring members of Skygreen Leopards, The Vanishing Voice, and Davenport - through eleven rollicking tunes that recall such cracked masterpieces as "Tonight's The Night" and "Mendocino". Wand has become somewhat well known for his surreal lyrical imagery, an uppity blend as informed by Robyn Hitchcock as by the Zimmer Man himself, and on "Second Attention", he spares no detail.

Reviews:
Refreshing New Sounds Wooden Wand and the Sky High Band is the most refreshing sound I've heard in ages. I am a writer for 2 music magazines and highly recommend the music. It is Bob Dylan like in so far as lyrics and the reverberating high voice of the lead singer. It has a gospel feel in that the lyrics speak of the Madonna, Christ, and Elijah, but it doesn't bog down as preachy. Poetic rhythm & rhyme is at times more important than the meaning or content of the words themselves; the lyrics are fun yet makes one think of greater possibility, like Dylan. And oh how we need that today over the whiny 'I don't want to be here' lyrics of today. Awesome live, awesome in the studio I had the chance to see Wooden Wand perform live at the Knitting Factory in NYC this year. Although it was a short set, the music blew me away. Sure the lyrics are reminscent to Dylan and Young but their simplicity is a breath of fresh air - especially for new music seekers like myself.
"Second Attention" will bring just that to this promising group of musicians. I look forward to many more albums and a healthy national tour in the upcoming years! Great album! With all the DREADFUL music out today, this album is a huge relief! Wooden Wand has talent, creativity, intelligence & a great sound. Noticeably inspired by two greats, Bob Dylan & Neil Young, this album has a classic folk/rock feel, with originality & ingenuity. Definitely an album worth buying, you will not be disappointed! Touched my Soul Second Attention by Wooden Wand is by far the most moving CD to date. Every song touched my soul. The words and music are so surreal it makes you stop and think and ponder touching words set to music. My favorite Sweet Xiao Li just keeps playing over in my mind. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for pure lyrics and music to refresh their soul. |
