We are so happy to have discovered Ms. Gardot. Her voice and music are heavenly. We just got tickets to hear her live in Boston. YAY

The Talented Ms. Gardot or the Voice That Will Comfort Me.
I've heard on the radio on the Smooth Jazz station the song that captured me with the very first sound of an unknown singer's voice, with the melancholic yet catchy and rhythmic melody and with undeniable class. It kept happening over and over; I would turn on the radio, the song would play but never from the beginning and I could not get the title and the name of the performer. The one phrase kept repeating over and over, Oh Lord, Who Will Comfort Me? When it happened again this morning on my way to work, I finally did the Internet search on the phrase and come up with the name and the bitter-sweet story of Melody Gardot. The horrifying car accident that had caused her at the age of 19 the terrible injuries and the prospect to spend the rest of her life bedridden or paralyzed from waste down, eventually turned her to writing and performing songs as the part of her therapy. As the result, a captivating, unique, and infinitely attractive new artist has entered the music scene of our times. I've became a fan instantly and I am listening to every song of Melody I was able to find on YouTube. Many of them are from the CD My One and Only Thrill. Of all songs I've heard so far, my favorites are the very first I heard, Who Will Comfort Me? and Your Heart Is As Black As Night - a quintessential sensual soft jazz composition, written, it seems, especially for the scene in a nostalgic noir movie. The vocals, piano, drums and wind instruments talk among themselves independently and then merge elegantly in the meditation on memory and regrets of love gone wrong. Melody (what a beautiful and suitable name for her) is here to stay. She is not just talented, she possesses a rare class, taste, and sensuality that excites you, caresses and soothes you at the same time. She has been compared to the jazz/rock/blues singers of the past and present, such as Nina Simone, Diana Krall and Nora Jones but there is something so special about her, sexy and sweet and comforting at the same time that I believe she will not pale in comparison with the famous and beloved singers. She is very young and I look forward to her new songs, CDs, and the concerts. I would love to attend her live performance. I want nothing to be between me and the voice that Will Comfort Me.

When I heard two or three cuts from My One and Only Thrill on Public Radio, I literally stopped what I was doing to take down her name so I could research her and her work. I ordered this and an earlier CD of hers that day. I'm so glad I did, as is my husband. Every track is spot-on. Melody has an excellent voice, and she knows how to use it! Her musicians are the best and give a peak performance. Delivering her original lyrics and music her unique vocal style, she paints emotional landscapes that ring true and close to the heart.

I have both this one and Worrisome Heart and they are excellent. She has a soulfoul and classy voice and the music is great to listen to alone or while with friends. Lot's of comments from friends.

Melody Gardot is and will always be one of my choices as the unknown best in the field of jazz vocals. Her songs and voicing along with the musicians backing her on this cd are just simply great.
