But at the peak of my frustration, I learned an important point that changed my workouts, my training, and my body forever.

When you start to learn better, you can start to do better...when you start to do better, you start to get better results.

If you keep training the same way, you're going to get the same results! Something has to change in your training for something better to happen to your physique! (More muscle or less fat)

Since my less effective training days:

  • I've learned there's a certain number of days you should be working out each week. One or two days more or less will not bring you the best results!

  • There's a method using cardio and weights you should be following when you go to the gym. Do not sabotage your muscle-building efforts by mixing these two up!

  • There are specific exercises that will bring you the best results possible. There are also some exercises you should never do again! (I'm willing to bet you do some of them, I'll show you why not to!)

  • There's a specific number of sets and reps you should be doing to get the most muscle gain possible. This one small change in your bodybuilding workout routine will add more muscle mass than any other change you make!

  • There's a proper way to eat during the day to burn fat and gain muscle, even at rest! Many people do it the "wrong" way.

  • There are things you should be doing out of the gym so that you get the most muscle from the time you spend in the gym!

It's no secret that if you do some or all of the same things others have done to build muscle and lose fat, you can get similar results.

Think of building muscle and losing fat like following a recipe. If you add too much of one thing (sets, reps) or not enough of another (rest, protein) , the end result is not what you wanted.

Avoid this by following a training recipe I've spent the last 2 years learning and putting together... a powerful "recipe" for building more muscle and losing fat.

In fact, forget about bodybuilders for a moment. All human beings lose fat and build muscle much the same way, so what worked for me to build muscle and lose fat will also work for you.

Sure, other factors come into play, like genetics, workout frequency, or intensity....but for the most part, the same bodybuilding system that worked for me to build muscle and burn fat will also work for you if followed.

My "try everything" approach a few years ago didn't work and I was spending a ton of time in the gym with little to show for it.

At the point of frustration, I turned to some of the best, all-natural bodybuilders and athletes and began to study the things they were doing.

But studying isn't enough, I also used what I read. I came to learn that many of the top natural lifters and bodybuilders were doing much of the same things.

After just 8 weeks of reading, using, and doing some of the same things they were doing, I'd lost over 20 pounds of fat.

But as my fat went down, my muscularity and strength actually increased! That's because I was losing fat, not muscle.

Some of the most noticeable changes in 8 weeks were:

  • My body fat went from around 28-30% to approximately 12-15% I used the same body fat calipers before and after and had a couple people measure me to make sure readings were similar.
  • My workout time in the gym went from 6 or so hours a week to less than 3 hours total. I started to focus on the things that produced results and quit doing things that didn't.
  • I saw my entire set of abs, the whole "6-pack" for the first time since high school! Sure, they were there the whole time, but were hiding under a big layer of fat!
  • All of my measurements, like chest, biceps, and calves went up, even though my body fat went down. That's because I was losing fat while gaining lean muscle.
  • My strength and all of my lifts went up as my fat went down. My bench press went from 265 to 325, my alternate dumbbell curls from 60 pounds to 80 pounds, and my squats from 365 to 450 pounds, all in 8 weeks.

After about 10 weeks, my body fat got down to around 6% and I was stronger and also more vascular than I'd ever been.
